February is National Heart Health Month. That means it’s one of our favorite months. After all, we’re a medical device manufacturer that focuses on heart-related solutions.
Heart health is important. In fact, heart disease is the leading cause of death for most adults in the United States. That’s why we’re so focused on helping people every single day.
A Focus on People
The most important and inspiring part of our industry is that we aren’t just making products. We’re working collaboratively as a team to create medical devices with the power to change and save lives.
That responsibility is huge. In fact, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), Michigan ranked in the top ten states for deaths caused by heart disease in 2017. That’s why our work hits so close to home, and it’s why we all do our best every day to help our communities.
Even if you aren’t in the medical device industry, you can still impact heart health. Although February is National Heart Health Month, that doesn’t mean there isn’t more we should be doing to help support heart health all year round!
Tomorrow, Friday, February 7th, is Go Red for Women Day! Be sure to wear red to raise awareness of heart health for women across the nation. It’s a simple way to start a conversation that can help save lives.
The West Michigan branch of the American Heart Association hosts events throughout the year. Later this year, the chapter will be hosting a Heart Walk in Grand Rapids to raise money for heart health research and development. You can register now and start raising funds!
If you’re not going to be around, or want to do something on a larger scale you can support the 2020 Virtual Heart Walk to help raise money on an individual level, as a team, or you could get your whole organization involved. The walk goes through June 30, 2020, so you still have time to get involved!
If you want to help spread heart health awareness and raise funds, you can always host a fundraiser at your office or with your friends. Everyone loves a friendly competition, especially when it’s for a good cause. Try to see what group of friends or department can raise the most money or donate the most volunteer time.
Heart health is incredibly important. In fact, every one of us knows someone who has been impacted by heart disease. That’s why it’s so vital that we all work together to help improve patient outcomes and spread awareness.
If you have an idea for a medical device that can help others, get in touch with us. We’d love to work with you impact lives for the better.
